What clutch would you recommend? Centerforce, ClutchMaster, ACT, ???? I am leaning toward the Centerforce Stage 1.

I want it to grip more than stock, but not be tough to drive. It will be used solely on the street, but it does have a somewhat built motor....

I run a stock "Brute" brand from rockauto in both my track car and my street car. It comes with a new clutch collar, bearing and bushing all for about $100. My 1971 car has a Rebello L30 with over 2000 hard track miles on it with no sign of slippage. As Wade said above, unless you are drag racing its hard to beat a stock clutch for these cars.

Clutch advise: Put your car in neutral while you sit at a stop light.

Good advise, but in the big city if you don't drop the clutch the INSTANT the light turns green the weenies in automatics behind you start honking.

I've been running a Centerforce one clutch since 1997 and have had no problems. Back then it was the clutch to buy. Now everyone says to just run stock. I can't recall why I went with something other than stock but I have been happy ever since I installed the Centerforce. It sounds like you at least have a choice and should be pretty happy with what ever you choose. Let us know the one you install and how you like it.

You calling Durango, Colorado a big city?

Actually I was thinking back to my '64 GTO (389, Tri-Power) which had a clutch that was so heavy your leg would start shaking if you tried to hold it in down more than about 10 seconds.
