L28 Racing Engine for SCCA gt2 or gt3

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of someone looking for a race prepped L28 for SCCA club racing? The engine was built by Jeff Winter of Rallye-Sport in Denver, CO. I'm planning to switch to a VK56de to compete in a coming year of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Any contacts would be much appreciated - I have plenty of details on the engine build for whoever wants to know.

Thanks for your help!

It has JE pistons right at 14.1:1 compression. It has carrillo rods, stock stroke. The crank is stock but was straightened and balanced. (its been a few years so I don't remember the exact numbers on the cam) The cam has 600thou lift, 106 to 109 degree center, duration of 305 to 310. I can go look at the grind number on the cam to get those numbers exactly. It has 3 2-barrel minkuni's with the competition intake. 6-1 header. The head has been completely gone through and cleaned up, blueprinted, etc. The only thing that could be done to improve this engine would be to switch to a billet crank. It makes in the 300hp range on 112 octane. I've got close to $12K in the engine developement, so I'm trying to get around $10k. I have only ran the engine on one track day several years ago, then I have run it in the garage to keep it fresh. It is an awesome engine and you will not find a better NA setup for SCCA or NASA.

Dave, do you still have this motor? I know Jeff well and he has done a lot of work for me. I might be interested if you still have it. Sorry for the late post. I just joined classiczars.com tonight after seeing your posting while searching Google for motors. You can email me at: onefast280@gmail.com or call: 970-904-0355. Thanks! John T
