Mr Camouflage Posted December 24, 2012 Share #25 Posted December 24, 2012 Yet I get the impression (especially from the $20k comment) that the market is no higher than it is locally, so why are people bothering to steal all our cars and send them to the Middle East? The market is high for LHD cars, RHD cars are used for parts, and therefore aren't worth as much to them. They want our RHD cars for parts. They cut them up and stuff as many as they can into a shipping container. Apparently its not allowed for them to convert a car to LHD legally so they will stripped and cut up for parts or possibly use the id of a wrecked LHD car to illegally convert it. This was the prices they were selling for 6 years ago (this post from 2006). Anybodies guess what they are selling for now.In Kuwait as well as Saudi Arabia as well as United Arab Emerates, we like the 240k crazily !!!!!! cause we live with that car for decades 1973 up to today.. for me I have a 1976 240k and I,ve paid about 5000 $ and more eventhough it has some rest and missed many parts. You know those guys whom go to Australia and pay you hundreds of dollars theywill pay thousands of them if your cars are LHD, cause we can not drivethem here in GCC countries (GCC means Gulf Counsol Coporation includingsix Arab countries ) what we do we just cut the car into tow parts andship it otherwise we can not inter it to our countries !!!! our trafic officein all GCC countries are so tough... then we start selling them as a spare parts ( yea it is a profitable challenge) we brought almost all the 240Ks in Europe (about 60 pcs from Germany,11 pcs Portugal,10 pcs Holland 5 pcs Finland and .....) and about 300 pcs from Austrailia what to do youare accepting the offer ........our market prices nowadays are as follows (2006)1- Europian 240K sedan with Skyline emblem good codition $ 180002- Europian 240K Coupe with Skyline emblem GC $ 12000 4- Europian 240K sedan with DATSUN emblem GC$ 130005- Europian 240K Coupe with DATSUN emblem GC $ 90006- UK, Australian, Newz, Japanese 240K sedan GC $ 80007- UK, Aus, Nz, Jp 240K coupe $ 60008- GCC 240K sedan GC $ 220009- GCC 240K coupe GC $ 18000GCC means the car was imported to our pretty hot countries with( A/C , Skyline badge on fender , steering wheel center, dashbord, at rearbetween the tails, Steel distinguished rims and so and so)sorry I wrote to much later I will show you some photos from my yardwhich has C110 & C210 all of them KHLGC110 005019 but now I lost myDigital Camera and thank you very much brother Austrailian and whom othersand please forgive us about what we did, BTW soon or later you will see noC110 or C210 240Ks running in your street( 90% ) of ur 240Ks r stripped for partsnowadays we r searching in Europe.... we got about 20 pcsfrom Germany , 5 finland , etc ofcourse they are LHDI inviting u all guys to visited middle east to se our Ks we have about 300 C110 ( 270 pcs in Kuwait and about350 C210 250 in Kwt )so don't miss the chance to see especially in 25 and 26 Feb,every year in celebration of thr National day Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/45185-looking-for-240k-datsun/?page=3#findComment-410012 Share on other sites

coupe72001 Posted December 24, 2012 Share #27 Posted December 24, 2012 A good 240k RHD can always go to the UAE, get restored and rego as RHD, converted to LHD, driven to Kuwait and reregistered as LHD. Legally, from what I hear.A 240K would have to be appalling to get half cut these days, but C210 and 280zx are most likely to get chopped up as spares. coupe72001 Posted December 25, 2012 Share #29 Posted December 25, 2012 I've never really understood why Japan doesn't import the Australian 240k back to Japan. Maybe their customs/import laws are a dog. Looking at Yahoo auctions Japan a good c110 goes for similar money to the middle east, but I've yet to ever hear of one going 'home'. Guest Flauski Posted January 8, 2013 Share #34 Posted January 8, 2013 They don't sell back to Japan often because of their tight import laws on old cars. Registering an old car in Japan is very expensive (their govt wants rid of the old fleet, not to keep it!)A 240K coupe in NZ needing resto recently sold for over $10,00 NZA 240K sedan sold back to Japan last year for $20,000 NZD however that was mini tubbed and had a full panel and paint. Adzmax Posted January 8, 2013 Share #35 Posted January 8, 2013 I often wonder what cars like ours will be worth when complete. Not that I'd sell it.
