How to attach new quarter window trim molding?

Recommended Posts

First, thanks to everyone who pointed me to David at Courtesy Nissan for my new quarter window leading edge molding. They had them in stock, I got a good price and they arrived promptly.

However, I can't tell how to attach the molding to my window frame. My car is a 1972 240z. The new molding has a metal strip with rubber attached. It has holes along the edge,...but my window frame doesn't. How do these moldings attach? Do you just glue them on with the black molding adhesive?

Your car may have originally used the earlier variation which did NOT have the metal strip the later style had.

I did this to my 71 by changing the quarter window frame completely so I can't say how to modify an early to use the later style, maybe some one else has and will post.

It sounds like you have a molding strip for a later model S30. The later model Z's use screws to attach the molding to the window. Can you post a pick of your window? BTW -When you install on the Z, you do not need adhesive on the outside of the frame when attaching to the body, just slick up with some silicone oil or soapy water and it should seal on it's own.
