Welcome to the club and your mid-life crisis! Looks like a nice ride, tell us a bit more about it. Of all the things you could be doing with your second life, this will be one of the most fun. Enjoy the ride and keep us posted with what you do with the car.

Oh Crap - It didn't ask me if I wanted to post my age - ah well - cat out of bag :) Yeah between this and the horse a bought a few years ago - I think should have staved off any mid-life crisis for awhile.

Okay. I am afraid to post engine pics because I don't want to be told I have a train wreck on my hands. I am trying to find pics of the 260z vs the 240z carbs (what does the flat vs. the round look like?) to see if this one has been swapped like so many 260s so I have read. Not sure what to hope for. The 260s have many problems supposedly but if it hasn't been swapped and it's running fine (at least in my limited estimation) I guess I'm okay with that too.

Here are two engine picspost-29025-14150822975741_thumb.jpg

The interior need some work - driver seat has rip on side and floor carpet and kick panels are out (think that is what they are called) but the lack of rusted floors was good enough for me and everything else is intact.

here are interior shots. What are the pieces called that are missing under the dash above the floor so I can search for them on ebay - kick panels? I would assume that ones for a 240z or early 260 would work? No A/C - bummer - I will have to refrain from driving once I start having hot flashes! HA! post-29025-14150822976639_thumb.jpg

It looks like you have round top carbs (which most of us would say is good) with a flat top air box. The kick panels are the cardboard pieces near where your feet go (on the outside foot, not near the tunnel).

If you desire you can probably remove a lot of the emission "stuff" that is on the motor unless your state mandates that it remain on.

Nice interior! Looks like someone did adapt the earlier round-top SUs. It would be awesome to see an all-original 260Z (flat tops and everything) but for functionality the round tops work just fine. ;)

Leon, if you ever venture out to Atlanta, I'll be more than happy to show you the flat tops working. Heck, they even did great in the summer.

Did anybody else notice how clean the insulation is on the fuel lines?

By the way, Carrie, I responded to your post over at Zdriver, but I think you'll find a lot more useful information on this site.

Steve, if I'm in the area I will be sure to let you know!

Okay - what is the significance of the "clean insulation on the fuel lines?"

I guess I am glad they have been swapped. The engine is idling pretty low and I was worried it had something to do with the 260 flat top carbs. On a positive note - the tachometer was not working yesterday but spontaneously started working today which has been mastering the stick a bit easier. (Not that I am there yet :) )
