Yeah Ive got a copy of that at home but wasn't sure if there was any other Z owners out there that still had the original clamps on theirs. The previous owner was not one to keep much original on the car. Not to mention how he Grey Primered the all the parts in the entire engine bay, valve cover, AC unit, hoses, etc. One thing though once you sand the primer off the metel underneath is pretty clean as the primer preserved it. It just takes a while. The AC unit is the last items to clean up from his disaster. But how can I complain with a running $300.00 purchase of a 72' 240Z.

Hard to imagine that you don't need a/c in july/aug there with the hot sticky humid weather.

when you get older you probably will appreciate it more. I get cranky when i have to sit in

traffic inside a hot tin can. i say keep it. the older buyers would appreciate it and the younger

buyers would just remove it. i dont think it would detract from the cars value by leaving it in.

btw that rotary sanden compressor is much better than the huge old style compressors

that came with the ara kits.

I see it more as a neat period correct accessory that Datsun dealers were authorized to install. It's more for the look of just coming out of the dealers parking lot then actual functionality. If I was looking for Horse power or to lessen weight of the car It and the Smog pump and components would be removed.

Pulled my AC (the stuff inside the car) a few weeks back. Planning to sell or trade it (cheap to club members, way less if anybody wants to pay cash and pick it up). Saw a used evaporator (core only) for $235 recently on e-bay. Ridiculous. Don't want to lose a potential buyer but I'd go with new or late model used components instead.

The two clamps on mine are Ideal stainless w/ stainless screws and a stainless guide to get the correct distance from the hose ends. They are beautiful and I haven't seen anything like them at McMaster-Carr or anywhere. I want them for my own car unless somebody needs them for a period mod resto. The connections to the core are hydraulic type fittings.

$450 wow. Did yours have those nifty clamps? Too bad part of my plastic box is broken and the compressor is missing, or I'd have enough for some nice headers, or an MSD. And I was going to toss it all in the dumpster. Where it belongs, IMHO.
