Well, I did it. I went out and purchased a Scion FR-S. I did it for all the same reasons I fell in love with 240Zs - it's simply fun to drive!

It has a Subaru "boxer" power-plant for lower center of gravity that has a mesmerizing, hi-RPM, pitch. A rock solid close ratio 6-speed gear-box plumbed into a rear-wheel drive (very important to me). A no-nonsense cockpit that features butterfly style racing seats. A turning radius of a Segway AND (dare I say) a sculpted body that closer resembles a 240Z; way closer than a 350 or 370Z.

It wont beat a MP3 or GTI in a quarter mile but I've seen them smoke them at autocross events - right out of the box too! I love the stiff, low-profile ride, it absolutely feels and responds like a go-kart.

So, I guess what I am trying to say here is that this is a fun, no nonsense, affordable sports car - just like the 240Z was in 1970 (still tops in my book).

I genuinely appreciate your sharing this article. I like the side-by-side spec comparison. I found the weight differential of 408 pounds especially interesting.
