jesanco Posted July 25, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 25, 2013 I'm new in this forum, but I found some other members may have this problem, I installed triple Webbers in my 280Z 1975, and I have it running pretty smooth, then you may ask, what is the problem?.THE FUMES!!! :ogre:, I "modified" the ventilation system and took out the PCV and put filters on the valve cover and in the pipe that came out of the block. hatch seals are new as all the seals in the body. but driving my beautiful Z is a nightmare. Can I do something to reconnect the vent system (PCV) using my setup? TBone028 Posted July 28, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 28, 2013 You can run the block and valve cover breathers to a catch can...that might help. But are you sure its not a gasoline smell? madkaw Posted July 28, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 28, 2013 Fumes like in fuel? Check for fuel leaks. They can be hard to find and it just takes a few drops to smell up everything. No fittings on the intake to run a PVC ? Lazeum Posted July 28, 2013 Share #6 Posted July 28, 2013 (edited) You need to better describe your problem. How does it smell? where does it come from? What are the conditions when it happens? What have you tried to determine the root cause. It is happening windows up or down? what speed? Any speed? Engine running in high rpm? low rpm?How is the tune on carbs? How does the car feel? Have you tried leaning out the AFR to test? For now, we do not know what is going on besides you've changed your carbs & it smells bad.Only answers would be bad tune or bad install with leaks.
