[2014] What did you do to/with your Z today?

Recommended Posts

Dropped off my propeller shaft off at Driveline Service of West Sac to get checked out and balanced. Car developed a horrid vibration starting at 50mph after changing to 4.11 gears. Changed out the U-joints and no difference so off to the shop with it! Wont surprise me if it bent or out of balance, it's kind of a kluge of used parts ;-)

I've been working on removing the 44 year old undercoating, it was nice to find original paint. Also decided to try using magnetic tools to check for and fish out loose rust in the frame rails through the existing drain holes. Here's what I found.

Spent a good bit of the day re-covering a rubber 280 steering wheel with leather. Before and after shots. Completed for under $20 (not including time and sore fingers). It was worth it

I really enjoyed the project because it tested my fabrication skills.

It was Caffeine & Octane day in Atlanta, too. We're a little better organized through Facebook and the Georgia Z Club, so we had about 14 S30s and 3 S130s today.

After that I drove the Z over to someone's house to help him with his 280ZX. After confirming it was a fuel pump issue, we got a new pump, he installed it, and the car roared back to life.

I'm considering moving my driving lamps from the provided holes to ones drilled slightly closer to the ends. The provided holes for the driving lamps are right behind the bumper over-riders, and the rubber projects down and blocks the upper half of the lamp and light. Good idea?
