Did the windshield leak in that car before? I'm wondering why the floors rusted that bad for being a sacramento car. Ah..

doesn't have blue plates so could have been from out of state.

Very nice looking now. You even have factory a/c for those hot

summer days.

When I got the car, I parked it in my driveway. During the rain here in Sac, I found out that the weatherstripping was bad and leaked so much water into the car. Then, after the engine was put back in after all the body work and paint was done, we found out that the control valve for the heater was leaking into the passenger side as well. So both of those combined together, did not a good floor make.

As of right now, I am going to get the heater control replaced (when I can find one from someone) and then get it my factory a/c recharged and then get everything hooked back up to enjoy the awesome heat and a/c

HermanM, I am about to begin a restoration project of my own. What kind of $$ should I budget? I was hoping to do the whole car for $12-$15K - MAX, is that possible? Is was running when I parked it in the mid 90s.

Dupuy,

Anything is possible. But it all really depends on how much of the work you are going to do yourself to keep costs down and if not, what kind of money are you looking to spend in shops? Remember, the money you spend, typically, means the difference in the quality of workmanship you will get.

The initial quote for just body and paint work on my car was $12k and the starting point on my engine was $2k, everything after that was all my ideas for styling and personal likes. That being said, I'm still not done and I don't think I ever really will be. I will always want to change things and update new things.

This site, along with many others, has a ton of information that will help you out tremendously with doing a majority of the work yourself. So search it and see what you find.

HermanM,

Nice Job. The 260Z seems to get a bad rap in the US, mostly due to the well documented Carb issues, but they are easily sorted with earlier 240 items. I have a few questions/observations...on the orig white Car I see a the chrome bumber strip - you removed it after the re-paint. Was the strip riveted or simply stuck on ? I have the same item on my Car which I'm not too fond off, but I'm worried removing it may damage the new(er) paintwork. I like your wheel/tire choice - what size are they ? they look 14x6 on 195/70's ? Are you satisfied with the ride height ? IMO I think stock is to high, but I fixed mine with Eibach's. Any plans to increase HP & still keep the 2.6L ?
