Who has seen this movie and what did you think of it?

I'm an addict I'm afraid. I saw it 3 times within the first 12 hours of hiring it and have been back to the video shop for another round. Have seen it 5 times since that first day and now I'm pretty sure I understand it all.

For those that haven't seen it and are thinking "it took this guy 5 times to understand it?" Well, you do understand it on a very low level the first time you watch it but with every viewing after that you reveal sub levels of it that are just amazing. You get more and more out of it every time and basically the director has left so much to the individuals interpretatios. A modern classic!

You just have to be give praise to Richard Kelly (director). It's his first movie and if this is anything to go by we are witnessing a new Spielberg (with a modern twist) in the making.

Mods, I didn't know where to post this so I put it in here. Move if necessary please.

Mike, can we have like a Wasteland/General/Culture non-car chat area please?

Well I work in a video shop so I know the movie haven't seen it yet but the general customer feedback is they don't like it. It does seem to be quite popular.

However I won't judge it till I see it and since most people don't like to think maybe it's worth a watch afterall.

I can't believe you've watched it so much. If you were a member at my video shop it would only cost you $2.50 per hire. :classic:

I agree with a general wasteland non car related chat area :classic: .

Seeing as some of us make posts about midnight snacks with Peanut butter  "Cough , Mike" ROFL .

Any Zeds in it? (There, that makes it a Zed related thread).

ROFL

That's got to be the best interpretation I've heard.

I find that extremely funny as it's kind of true. The bunny does make him do evil things but the ironic thing is that he actually guides him, through those evil things, to save the world.

Ive seen it about 3 times... It still manages to pack out cinemas many months after its limited release.

I thought it was a brilliant movie, however the more i watch it the more i overthink things... so now it is just a "very good" movie.

The website spoils some of the magic of the film by explaining everything in detail. I would have preferred a more open interpretation.

Great soundtrack , great acting, and lots of little details everywhere...

*e.g next time you watch the movie, look carefully at the Jim Cunningham Promotional Tv spots, and you'll see his *cough* hobby manifest itself in subtle hugs and bumpats on the children.

You say it still packs in cinema seats. Is it still out anywhere in Sydney? I would love to go see it on the big screen.

Yeah, there are many things like that eg throughout the movie. That's part of its appeal. You will continue to notice things with every viewing.

Here's one for you- At the very begining of the movie when Donnie comes home on his bike you see Frank drive off in the opposite direction in his red car after having just dropped off his girlfriend, Donnies sister.

One of my fav ones though is the horn of Franks car (on two occasions) and a secret subtitle. I won't disclose any more cause I fear I'm wrecking the movie for those that haven't seen it.
