Wheel size 225/50/16 +6 off set will work?

Has anybody tried it . I have looked but no real answer ... I think it will but thought maybe someone out there has tried it . Found some bought but never used for sale and am a little wary

Hi Dc, Thats the tyre size your quoting. Sort of depends on how wide the rims are and the brand of tyre also makes a difference. Are you using rolled fenders, car lowered etc?

Basically not enough information so someone can give you any sort of reliable answer.

Coilovers? The fenders will have to be cut and overfenders will most likely be required...besides most likely coilovers.

Sorry about that the wheels are panasports the ad just says that they are 225/50/16 +6 offset . The owner said they would not rub but I know they would be real close. I have two cars one is lowered 1" (don't think it will work) second car is a 71' with stock suspension. (maybe) nankang tire (never heard of it )

I plugged the following assumptions into a wheel offset calculator: stock wheel width 5" and zero offset, new wheel width 6", +6mm offset and got this back: inner clearance reduced by 19mm (about 3/4"), outer position extended by 7mm. If the Panasports are 7" wide the new numbers are: inner reduction 31mm, outer extension 19mm.

That's why EuroDat asked about the true wheel size - it makes a difference. Those 225's will probably rub on the lowered car.

205/55/16 on 16x7 pana -6 with a ~1.25" drop rubbed the front valance at lock. had to roll the lip with a 1/2" drive socket extension after chewing up a tire. 225 MIGHT be okay everywhere but at the valance.

I am more interested on a stock car . I am in the process of buying a stock car with some ugly rims . I have 14" rewinds I my other one . Thanks for the time in putting it in the calculator. I have learned a bunch on off sets . Man I wish they were 15"

225s on a +6 offset (assuming they are 7-in. wide) may hit the front valence. When I was running 14x7 Western Turbines with 225/60 I would clip the front valence.

I have 16x8 +10 on my car now with 245/50 tires. I need a 10mm spacer to clear my Toyota S12/w calipers. If I had stock calipers a 5mm spacer would probably suffice to help the tires clear the spring perch. I do not have a spacer in the rear but trimmed the spring perch for the 2mm or so of clearance I needed.

My car is also dropped 1-inch. I rub on the fenders and wound up rolling them. A 225 tire should not rub.

A 225 tire on a +6 wheel (assuming its 7 or 8 inches wide) should have no clearance issues save for the front valence. Again, I have 245mm wide rear tires on a +10 8-in. wide wheel and I barely rub on severe transitions in the road when the rear compresses. A 225mm tire on a +6 7-in. wide wheel should be ok.

If you are really concerned, you can always test fit if the buyer will let you. The front is more of a concern than the rear.

225/50R16 on a 7" rim with +6mm offset should fit pretty well depending on the actual tire brand/model. From everything I have seen and read, there is car to car variability that will determine if you clear or rub. If you can get them for a decent price, go for it. Panasports are in high demand and you can always resell them if they rub more than you are willing to live with. I run the same, but with zero offset and they rubbed heavily until I trimmed the rear fender pinch flanges. If I had +6mm rims, they would have likely still rubbed, but a simple rolling would have fixed the issue rather than the need for trimming. The fronts will likely rub until you trim the valence and adjust it away from the tire path. Like new Panasports in that size are worth $800+. Depending on what the tires are, they could be worth another $200 - $400.

I have a set of 225/50R16 tires on 16X7 Panasports on both of my Zs. I think one set is +6 offset and one is 0 offset, but I got both sets secondhand. After mocking up both sets on one car, I think the tires make a bigger difference than the slight offset (although that helps). The RE-11As on the green car are quite a bit "bulgier" than the Turanzas on the orange car.

The facts...

- Orange car is on +6 offset with very old 225/50R16 Bridgestone Turanza rubber.

- Green car is on +0 offset with 225/50R16 Bridgestone RE-11A rubber.

- Green car has +0 deg of rear camber, orange car has -1.5 deg.

- Green car has trimmed rear arch lips and front valence

- Orange car has aftermarket air dam

- Zero rubbing on either setup

- Switch sets between the two and fatter rears will rub on orange car

I just put a set of 16X8 rims with +0 offset and 205X55X16 tires on stock suspension with no issues, I've been told by my tire guy that you can actually use up to +20 offset, but I'm not real sure I'd try that setup. Just my 2¢.
