Mikes Z car Posted May 18, 2014 Share #3 Posted May 18, 2014 The diodes can short on the alternator. The diode pack can be replaced but I don't know if that is often done nor if you have to take the alternator apart to replace them. Powderkeg Posted May 18, 2014 Share #4 Posted May 18, 2014 Find a good shop that can rebuild your alternator. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/49255-over-night-battery-dies/#findComment-448045 Share on other sites
SteveJ Posted May 18, 2014 Share #5 Posted May 18, 2014 A bad voltage regulator can cause this to happen, as well. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/49255-over-night-battery-dies/#findComment-448050 Share on other sites
Oiluj Posted May 21, 2014 Share #6 Posted May 21, 2014 Look for a voltage leak or lamp that doesn't go out. Look at your glove box and the engine bay light to make sure they are off.My glove box light switch had been pushed back and didn't go out. Over a couple days, battery was too low to start. Bent the mount back out, and no more problem... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/49255-over-night-battery-dies/#findComment-448220 Share on other sites
