siteunseen Posted September 24, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 24, 2014 I'm getting my front and rear spoilers painted black on my orange 240. I like a low sheen finish but the painter called and said after he got started on them they were originally done with black gel coat.Could someone who wasn't in diapers in 1972 tell me the sheen as they remember? Gloss, semi-gloss or a satin finish? Thanks for any help,Cliff Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/50120-sheen-of-spoilers/ Share on other sites

siteunseen Posted September 24, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted September 24, 2014 My orange one has original spoiler and it is satin.Does your's have the flattened out part on the right for the emblem? Mine doesn't but the 240Z emblem fits pretty flat. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/50120-sheen-of-spoilers/#findComment-455979 Share on other sites
psdenno Posted September 24, 2014 Share #6 Posted September 24, 2014 The BRE front spoiler I bought in 1972 for my Z came in black gel coat. I was in the Air Force at the time and after breaking it by hitting deep snow (it doesn't make a very good plow) I had it repaired on Base and painted with the flat black paint used on C130 radar domes. And so it remains today.Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/50120-sheen-of-spoilers/#findComment-455985 Share on other sites

ajmcforester Posted September 25, 2014 Share #8 Posted September 25, 2014 Tell them you want it to look like a black gel coat when you get it painted they should know what that looks like. It should be a semi-gloss Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/50120-sheen-of-spoilers/#findComment-456004 Share on other sites
JR Ohio Posted September 25, 2014 Share #9 Posted September 25, 2014 Mine doesn't have a flat spot for the emblem. The emblem was removed so the spoiler would fit. But I still have the emblems in case I need the. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/50120-sheen-of-spoilers/#findComment-456011 Share on other sites
