josch0034 Posted June 26, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) I recently bought a rolling shell that I will fix up and get back on the road. Very new to the s30 game this is my first one. I was wondering what year it is from because I've noticed some places online say that there is differences in the 75-76 and the 77-78 when it comes to parts. I figured it out guys thank you Edited June 26, 2015 by josch0034 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/51721-advice-on-what-year-my-280z-is/ Share on other sites
Zed Head Posted June 26, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 26, 2015 There should be a plate on the driver's side door jamb that has a date stamped, like 1/76. That's a clue, plus each year has some small differences. If you post a picture, it could probably be figured out. Or look at pictures of 280Z's on Google or on this site. josch0034 Posted June 26, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted June 26, 2015 It doesn't have the stamp on it that was the first place I looked This car is basically gutted pretty good. I heard there was a z registry but it looks like all the ones I have found were for the 240z. mgood Posted June 26, 2015 Share #4 Posted June 26, 2015 Mine was built in 11/75 and is 281114, Yours could have been built in 9 or 10 of 75. I think 76's were started on 9 of 75. josch0034 Posted June 26, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted June 26, 2015 Appreciate it mgood. So you believe it's a 76? Wish I had more information on the car but it's basically just a body with a motor and transmission and a steering wheel. Patcon Posted June 26, 2015 Share #7 Posted June 26, 2015 Did you get a title? If not how are you gonna get it back on the road? Also there is a VIN number right above the brake booster. You aught to be able to get pretty close to month of manufacture with that. josch0034 Posted June 26, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted June 26, 2015 Got a bonded title for it for now I got it from a junkyard the guy said that a older lady sold it to the place for scrap metal pricing it was her husbands project but he never got past the priming it for painting.
