siteunseen Posted September 20, 2015 Share #2 Posted September 20, 2015 Sounds like the flux capacitor to me, you need to go back to last week.Naw, I'm kidding. You'll have to give a lot more hints to the problem. I'd start by looking at the spark plugs. SteveJ Posted September 20, 2015 Share #3 Posted September 20, 2015 If you're not using it as a daily driver, you might want to invite me over next weekend. SteveJ Posted September 21, 2015 Share #5 Posted September 21, 2015 What carburetors are you running? Will it start right back up?How long does it run? What ignition are you running?Does it still have both fuel pumps? I can't live that far away from you. I'm in NE Forsyth County, less than a mile from Lake Lanier. Zed Head Posted September 21, 2015 Share #7 Posted September 21, 2015 ignition is stock as far as i can tell Look under the distributor cap and describe what's there. We can't tell what " as far as I can tell" means. will not crank back up not sure what would make it do thatHow long is "will not crank back up"? Seems tedious but the words are all we have. Make them count. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/52409-need-info-on-1974-260z/#findComment-477818 Share on other sites

SteveJ Posted September 21, 2015 Share #9 Posted September 21, 2015 I won't be surprised if it's not a fuel delivery issue. I'll see if I can visit the car in person (in auto?) and verify. siteunseen Posted September 21, 2015 Share #11 Posted September 21, 2015 You can bypass the gas tank with a gas can. Run a hose from the gas can to the "IN" nipple of the pump, then run a smaller hose from the fuel rail's return line into the gas can. A 2.5 gallon plastic can fits perfect in between the radiator and grill on my 240. Or when it won't restart, pull the supply hose off and blow into it until you hear gurgling from the tank. I'll show you what was causing mine to quit after a few minutes then restart after all the crud settled. Not rust, it wouldn't stick to a magnet, just crud that would crumble like dirt in my fingers.
