Last night I did some digging and found out that our "home" page is actually redirected when you type in our default web page of http://www.classiczcars.com .  Apparently this is not good for search engines and it's common practice to assure that all home pages are not redirected.  As a result, I made a change to the system.  You'll notice that any time you simply type in our base URL (classiczcars.com) that it will load the forums.  Our home page is still active and you can find a link to it on the Main Menu.

 

I also added a gallery image slider to the top of the forum page to show random photos.

 

Anyway, just a few changes, nothing too serious.

Mike - FYI, the Forums selection in the navigation menu is set to the Home page.  I was able to get the Forums selection only from the Quick Navigation menu next to View New Content.

Don't you have a "Home" link on the main menu?  Can you send me a screenshot?

Not sure what you mean by a home link.  I'm talking about the dark gray nav. menu on the left of all pages.  The "Forums" menu selection goes to the home page when selected.  The target is visible as soon as you cursor over the menu item, all other selections (Gallery, Calendar, ...etc.) go to their respective pages.

Yes, same here Mike. If you select " Forums"  by the Navigation on the left hand side of the page, it takes you back to the sites " Home " page.

 

To get to forums, you have to select one of the " Latest Forum Topics" shown on the " Home Page " and then Navigate from there.

Hmm, might be a cookie thing.  May have to clear them or wait a bit longer for it to expire and reload.  What happens if you guys click on the main logo in the upper left?

Our presence on Google searches is pretty strong but I'm hoping the change improves our score.  I am looking at SEO (search engine optimization) stuff right now and that is a big effort...  SEO analyzers always recommend to keep the first page native (not redirected) so that's a big reason why I made the change.  Our new software will be installed by end of year, and I'll be able to have our home page set up without a redirect.  For now this will have to do....

 

FYI, I did notice we have some bigger companies advertising, so that is a big change.
