so basically all Z engines have to sound like they have valves tapping...

HAHA

Amazing engine for sure.  That poor 1970's tach just cannot keep up.

Anybody else think 50mm throttle bodies are a tad too large.

Evidently the car seems to like the large venturi size. Maybe because it breathes better with the extra valve area, it doesn't suffer with the over carburation the standard L6 heads seem to have.

At first I was gonna respond to the "throttle body" portion of your question. It is my understanding throttle bodies don't have as big of an issue with bore size because the fuel is at a higher pressure and atomizes even at lower rpms.

Also was it really necessary to chop a huge hole in the hood? I hope that's a fiberglass hood they cut up.

"No officer, I don't know why you stopped me..."

...but officer, I couldn't have been speeding! My speedometer never left zero." :P

I'd say that the engine was built to handle 50's. It would be hard to compare this this maticullously prepared head to any stock production Z head.

It definetly can flow more air thus the bigger bores.

It will be interesting to see Derek's DOHC head in comparison

In the driving video, the complete hood looks to be in place. For the OS Giken SEMA booth, a modified hood gave the car some finishing touches but still kept their engine on display. More info from the JNC site:
