Patcon Posted August 27, 2016 Share #38 Posted August 27, 2016 Duhh! I couldn't solve the acronym, sort of shot from yesterday... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/52838-83-280zx-turbo-half-shaft-cvs/?page=4#findComment-501914 Share on other sites
gnosez Posted September 3, 2016 Share #39 Posted September 3, 2016 One of the problems with the 300ZXT CVs was that aftermarket versions only came in one size (not right and left). Used with an R200 in a lowered Z and the result could end up costing one a set of diff gears in less than 100 miles. And yes, the noise was horrible... I'm looking at the R180 Sube diff and CV route for this winter's race car project. gnosez Posted September 12, 2016 Share #41 Posted September 12, 2016 Sorry, been up at Watkins Glen racing. Other than flipping the cages, the stock CVs will not cause any issues even if you have a lowered S30 body Z. Zed Head Posted September 12, 2016 Share #42 Posted September 12, 2016 The 240Z's seem to have less space between diff and hub than 280Z's. 240Z people often have binding problem with u-joint halfshafts when they swap an R200 in, even though the 280Z's come with the R200 stock. The rear hubs must be thicker on the 240Z's. Beware. grannyknot Posted January 15, 2019 Author Share #43 Posted January 15, 2019 I had forgot all about this thread until @Elliott000 had some questions about the set up. I have about 2000 mi. on these shafts now and no problem of any kind, working perfectly. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/52838-83-280zx-turbo-half-shaft-cvs/?page=4#findComment-565986 Share on other sites
