What a Difference a Day Makes with RedBird

Recommended Posts

Jai. I am going to look at some 280Z parts in a couple weeks that a person wants to get rid of.

If things look good I will buy the whole lot. I just don't know yet what year they are from.

It was gutted to build a race car. If there is a ECU and it fits your car, you can have it for free.

The 280Z ECUs are all the same, essentially.  I'm pretty sure that even the automatic ECU will work in a manual car.  The FSM wiring diagrams are all the same, so any differences would be small.  1975 is missing the altitude switch but that's a California thing.

I am planning the trip on Sat 2/13 or Sun 2/14. The person is only available on weekends.

There is a complete dash too. I will get a photo if someone is interested.

I am pretty sure all the cars wiring harnesses are there too.

Get everything that you can, even the odd stuff.  See this thread about disappearing parts -

Hi Jai, my missing ECU has been found. When I told a Z friend of mine about my missing parts he said to me, I quote, "you mean the one you loaned me?" all I could do was laugh. I completely forgot I loaned it to him. So its available to you if needed. I still cant find my Ignition module though. Anyway, let me know. I'll be glad to send it to you.

If you decide you want it send me a PM with your address.

Also, if your car is a California car, which I believe it is, it has the "altitude switch" and catalytic converter. The ECU I have is from a California car.

Yes, I think we determined RedBird is a California car.  She does have the catalytic converter. Where is the "altitude switch"?

I will send you my address.

Thank you sooooo much!

My son was over and we went down the list of questions you folks have asked.  I will start another post for that tho.

It is all good news!   :P  LOL  :D  Zoooommmm......................
