siteunseen Posted March 11, 2018 Share #109 Posted March 11, 2018 Dump some dry ice and water down in it. Run and hide, wait for big BOOM. No more dents. That's funny! If I thought I could get predictable results I would try it. Captain Obvious Posted March 11, 2018 Share #111 Posted March 11, 2018 Hmm...I disagree. I believe the results would be completely predictable. With suitable plugs on the ports, I don't think there would be any question about what would happen! Completely predictable! Captain Obvious Posted March 11, 2018 Share #112 Posted March 11, 2018 So earlier there was a question about the crenelated rubber washers for the moustache bar. Anyone have any input into this? Anybody have an idea where the solid ones came from? Some different application? On 2/4/2018 at 8:17 PM, Patcon said: Also I two different styles of mustache bar washers. Which is correct for a 240z? The upper ones with the crenelated rubbers on the bolts are the ones I suspect are correct. If so what are the other ones for? Zed Head Posted March 11, 2018 Share #113 Posted March 11, 2018 The 1969 - 1972 TSB book shows crennulations in a drawing for a March 25, 1971 TSB, "Dampener Installation". Carpartsmanual shows a few changes. Assuming that #30 and #31 is the part. The drawing looks screwed up, but the change dates match for the pair, and the label of "stopper" seems right. http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun/Z-1969-1978/axle/rear-suspension Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/55369-1971-hls30-14938-lily-build/?page=10#findComment-544344 Share on other sites
Zed Head Posted March 11, 2018 Share #114 Posted March 11, 2018 Also, I'm pretty pretty pretty sure that I've seen the flat ones on a very early 240Z or two. In the wrecking yards and maybe illustrated somewhere. We both misspelled crenulation. Not sure it's quite the right word anyway. Not irregular. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/crenulated Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/55369-1971-hls30-14938-lily-build/?page=10#findComment-544346 Share on other sites

Crenelated as in the style on the studs or the style on the string?
