Patcon Posted January 7, 2024 Author Share #829 Posted January 7, 2024 If someone has some pictures of the manual console from underneath, that would be great. jwtaylor Posted January 8, 2024 Share #830 Posted January 8, 2024 I just took some pictures. The camera battery died right after I took the pictures, will post them after the battery charges. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/55369-1971-hls30-14938-lily-build/?page=70#findComment-660838 Share on other sites
jwtaylor Posted January 8, 2024 Share #831 Posted January 8, 2024 Here are the console pictures. Ignore the plywood pieces glued into sides, it was an attempt to stiffen the fiberglass. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/55369-1971-hls30-14938-lily-build/?page=70#findComment-660861 Share on other sites
Patcon Posted January 8, 2024 Author Share #832 Posted January 8, 2024 Thanks for those! It looks like the auto console would need some pretty serious patching to make work. I will look at sourcing a replacement console Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/55369-1971-hls30-14938-lily-build/?page=70#findComment-660862 Share on other sites
Patcon Posted January 8, 2024 Author Share #833 Posted January 8, 2024 On another note, does anyone have any recommendations for replacing this hard board that goes on the rear strut towers? This is why I don't through anything away. I found it inside the old vinyl I only have one and need to make the pieces for the top of the shock tower too. It looks to be about 2mm thick Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/55369-1971-hls30-14938-lily-build/?page=70#findComment-660863 Share on other sites
grannyknot Posted January 8, 2024 Share #834 Posted January 8, 2024 Arts & crafts stores carry that kind of mat board or even a frame shop, or, like everyone else I'm sure you have a dozen Amazon boxes kicking around🙂 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/55369-1971-hls30-14938-lily-build/?page=70#findComment-660865 Share on other sites
Patcon Posted January 8, 2024 Author Share #835 Posted January 8, 2024 That's a good idea. I will try Michaels. I want something a little tougher than regular cardboard in case I need to peel the leather and reposition Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/55369-1971-hls30-14938-lily-build/?page=70#findComment-660880 Share on other sites
inline6 Posted January 8, 2024 Share #836 Posted January 8, 2024 I found that the board material inside of 3 ring binder/notebooks worked very well when I redid those in my track car years ago. Something like this: https://www.officedepot.com/b/binders/N-1035691 If you have some old ones laying around, that might be more appealing that sacrificing new ones 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/55369-1971-hls30-14938-lily-build/?page=70#findComment-660881 Share on other sites
