240paul Posted April 8, 2003 Share #1 Posted April 8, 2003 Hi all - great forum! I have lurked on here for a few months and have decided to say hello as my Z is back from its 14-month restoration. The story on my Z is that it was my late fathers car - he had it from new. It sat in the garage for nearly 12 years where it had a small amount of restoration work done to it , but time got the better of us! It is still sinking in that it is sitting in my garage with better paintwork than its garage partner! Still loads of little bits to do on it - but that’s half the fun! Who else is in the UK? - (I recognise a few name from the UK Z club Site) Not sure if the picture uploaded? I started to ask which car is more fun to drive but decided that I probably wouldn't want to hear the answer...Instead of attaching pictures to messages you can upload them to your personal gallery which makes them easier for others to view. The wheels are Re-furbed Compo CX's - They are just on there as a stopgap - They have the centre caps missing as well! The Z is a funny old thing to get the wheels right! - Any suggestions on wheels?? And, Since they are GB, you wont have to pay for shippment across the pond like I did. I'm in WC1 ( Bloomsbury ).I saw a lot of the work on your car in progress, and its was a real marathon job. Amazing to see it come back together the way it has. The shell looked really weird without its rear quarters on!Its a heart-warming story about it being your late father's car that you have put back on the road and given a new lease of life to. I can relate to that. He would be proud of the result, I'm sure.Other Londoners float around here sometimes too; George ( 240Z ) has a really nice Green 240 with an injected L28, and Guy ( SAINT ) has a really pretty early 240 in Silver which was restored not a million miles from where yours was done. Both of them have pics in the Gallery. Looking forward to seeing more of your Gallery pics. I think a lot of people here will be amazed to see what UK owners sometimes go through to get a decent Z!All the best,Alan T. I read about your restoration from the UK site, it's great to see the completed car, it looks fantastic. So is it Ferrari Rosso? It's got to match its room partner hasnt it? I am generally not a lover of silver cars- I always think it is a safe colour – BUT! – This is the exception to the rule! – (Guy, how did the bumpers turn out!!) My camera is a bit past its sell by date and is having problems with focusing (a bit like me on the morning after the night before!) – Will post a few better pictures! George! Lurking no more - Nice to see you on here as well! - Rosso Corsa of Corsa !! – It does look incredible next to the 348 – The Z puts it to shame! – It looks as though I have neglected it for 2 years!
