I was thinking $12k at the most. With all of the rust, it's going to require tens of thousands of dollars to restore this car - perhaps $30k or more. There's no guarantee that it will be worth $50-plus when finished. S30Driver Posted August 15, 2016 Share #15 Posted August 15, 2016 I agree it went higher than I thought it would, but it is an authentic numbered factory scarab as opposed to the kit you could buy from them and create your own. i think it helped that there were 2 buyers that really wanted it at the end of the auction. There are not many around & few that survived complete. Although there is a very nice one just north of me in the Springdale area ... Please tell us more about the Scarab that's near you - is it also an authentic numbered car? Do you have any pictures of the car by any chance? Diseazd Posted August 17, 2016 Share #17 Posted August 17, 2016 A good friend of mine bought the car. He doesn't know how much it's worth either. However, with so few original cars left with all the parts and docs, in restored condition, it should bring a hefty price. S30Driver Posted August 17, 2016 Share #18 Posted August 17, 2016 It is owned by Scott M, a very private gentleman who moved up here, with his extensive Z car collection last year from the Dallas area. He is a good friend of @jfa.series1 and was a major member of their Z car club in Dallas. Jim A probably knows that car fairly well. I believe it is an authentic numbered car. Myself & Zup have had the pleasure of visiting with Scott on three occasions. Next time we go over there, I will ask him for permission to take a few pictures of the Scarab & post them here. He has mentioned that he will join the discussions here, and would be a valuable member.
