7tooZ Posted November 4, 2017 Share #397 Posted November 4, 2017 Went with some local club members (ZCCW) to race slot cars. Started last (thanks to being punted off the track on the first lap) and finished in 1ST place. Too much fun. jfa.series1 Posted November 5, 2017 Share #398 Posted November 5, 2017 Not my car - some of my my rescued partZ. Working to rehabilitate a 240Z grill. A friend has a blasting cabinet so I was able to get all the small pieces easily cleaned up. The blades are too long for the cabinet, getting stripped with a drill motor and sanding wheel (not disc). Original paint plus one or two additional layers. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/56772-2017-what-did-you-do-towith-your-z-today/?page=34#findComment-534153 Share on other sites
Namerow Posted November 5, 2017 Share #399 Posted November 5, 2017 Might be worth getting the long through-bolts re-plated. They like to rust. I'm still soaking the two you included in the pkg., the nuts are well frozen to the threads but I'm hoping to get them free to have as spares. Canadian salt, eh? At least the four originals with this grill all came loose OK and will get well protected as part of the refurb. BTW - the vertical bars cleaned up very well with the sand blaster. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/56772-2017-what-did-you-do-towith-your-z-today/?page=34#findComment-534186 Share on other sites

siteunseen Posted November 11, 2017 Share #403 Posted November 11, 2017 I blew leaves off some back roads this morning. Car is running good, finally. Putting short arm float lids on both SUs has worked out great. Mikes Z car Posted November 12, 2017 Share #404 Posted November 12, 2017 How do the shorter arms assist? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/56772-2017-what-did-you-do-towith-your-z-today/?page=34#findComment-534619 Share on other sites
siteunseen Posted November 12, 2017 Share #405 Posted November 12, 2017 The newer valves from Ztherapy are the same length, unlike the originals. Had a hard time setting them. After swapping out the long armed lid with a shorter one it's easier for me to get them adjusted. Now they're like the earlier 4 screw round tops. My car runs better than ever now. At least one, possibly two coats of color overspray. Hoping to get this one good enough to go back in service somewhere. 2 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/56772-2017-what-did-you-do-towith-your-z-today/?page=34#findComment-534782 Share on other sites
