psdenno Posted January 28, 2017 Share #3 Posted January 28, 2017 I think that when I bought my Z, the Showroom Hostesses must have had the day off - just a snarky old salesman working hard to get as much over sticker price as he could. black gold man Posted January 28, 2017 Share #4 Posted January 28, 2017 In 98 I bought a jeep. I was asked, rustproofing? NO I said. Before paper work was done they put me in office with hotty and it was her mission to get me that rustproofing. JSM Posted January 28, 2017 Share #5 Posted January 28, 2017 Uh oh, in today's world hiring a hostess would have to include all minorities, and the entire LGBT and the like communities to be politically correct! 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/56955-we-all-got-duped/#findComment-511285 Share on other sites
DatsunZGuy Posted January 28, 2017 Share #6 Posted January 28, 2017 #10 answers the reason for the unoccupied stripper pole in the showroom. The "hostess" must have been in back with a customer showing off the aftermarket options package. 26th-Z Posted January 28, 2017 Share #7 Posted January 28, 2017 (edited) Reminds me of Miss Fair Lady. But what's with the title of this thread? How did we all get duped? And duped of what? Or is this an "alternate history" thread? psdenno Posted January 28, 2017 Share #8 Posted January 28, 2017 I don't feel duped. It's more like tuning in on the last 20 seconds of a professional wrestling match on TV. You're there for all the cheering and happiness, but find out later you missed some good stuff that you might have enjoyed had you seen the whole match. Duped by my Datsun 240z? Never in the last 46 years. Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/56955-we-all-got-duped/#findComment-511296 Share on other sites
siteunseen Posted January 28, 2017 Share #9 Posted January 28, 2017 (edited) I get the joke Blue. A bikini car wash isn't about clean cars. gnosez Posted January 29, 2017 Share #12 Posted January 29, 2017 My grandmother, to whom I owe my right foot driving style, believed that wrestling wasn't staged (this is late 1950s) and was thrown out of the local arena after hitting one of the pro-wrestlers over the head with a folding chair when he landed in the front row. I can remember his exact words as he looked at his hand with a small amount of blood on it - "Lady! Don't you know this isn't real!!". Those sales tips are ancient and at the same time correct, at least for the period in question. There was no formal training for car salesmen back then just what worked yesterday just might work today. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/56955-we-all-got-duped/#findComment-511309 Share on other sites
