I have a set of solex 44's that are missing a few pieces. I've tried contacting a few places and they all say that solex parts and mikuni parts are not interchangable. Has anyone else run into this problem? I am aslo still looking for these parts if someone knows where I can get them.

Thanks for your help.

Are these Solex-Mikuni or Solex If Solex (European) check with the VW houses. Mikuni USA says the have nothing for Solex-Mikuni carbies. I don't know if that is true or not. seems when ever i need something, 1 or 2 of my roadster vendors "majically" comes up with it. At a price, that is.

It is true that nothing seems to be interchanable. I have a set of early 44 Solex Mikunis (2 screw covers). Late model 44 (single screw cover) and a set of 40 on the way!

It's enough to give you the PHH blues!

No, I'm actually missing inner and outer venturis for one carb and inners for another. Other than that, they're complete. I believe they are just Solex carbs. I don't really know how to tell the difference though. They have on center crew on top, but they look exactly like Mikunis. I don't know if that helps any.

If they say "Made in Japan" anywhere on them, They're Mikunis. If not you need to look for Mercedes Benz Restoration vendors. the 60's and 70 SL's used Euro Solex PHH's. It may work in your favor. Parts for these may be more plentiful than our Mikunis.

What size inner and outer Venturis are you looking for? I might be able to help you.

You'll also need to pin down the exact model and size of the carbs that these are for. There SHOULD be some identification on the carb bodies ( sometimes Solex put this on an alloy tag that was sandwiched under one of the top cover screws ). Take a look and see if you can identify them properly. Nobody's going to be able to help you online unless you can ID them properly.

They aren't the ADDHE model are they? I think I have some parts in my garage for that model. If not, I know where I can get some.

Let me know if you can ID them properly. At least I'm in Europe, so a little bit closer to the Solex source than you are.
