Buschwacker Posted July 3, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 3, 2017 So we pulled one out of my car and bought the other one and now we can't remember What is what due to being stored for years. Any help would be appreciated thanks. Zed Head Posted July 3, 2017 Share #3 Posted July 3, 2017 Vagueness leads to more vagueness... But it's fun for us. Welcome to the club! The answer is - one still has the crossmember attached. 2 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/58044-can-you-tell-me-whats-the-difference/#findComment-524751 Share on other sites

siteunseen Posted July 3, 2017 Share #5 Posted July 3, 2017 Judging by the sheen of the fluid I'd guess the first pictured one is the oldest and has been in storage longest. Watson? motorman7 Posted July 3, 2017 Share #6 Posted July 3, 2017 The second one (no cross-member) looks like your standard Z transmission. I do not recognize the first one. The bolts on the top near the shifter are unfamiliar to me. Zed Head Posted July 3, 2017 Share #7 Posted July 3, 2017 Motorman, all those 240Z's and it's unfamiliar? Buschwacker, just having fun. But you have to share more. Otherwise, it's work. EuroDat Posted July 3, 2017 Share #9 Posted July 3, 2017 Top tranny is a F4W71B 4 spedd and the lower is a FS5W71B 5 speed. Can't really tell if the FS5W71B came from a 280Z, 280ZX 2+2 or the later close ratio versions from the 280ZX NA coupe. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/58044-can-you-tell-me-whats-the-difference/#findComment-524759 Share on other sites
