Original color of 1972 240z steering wheel

Im about to paint the metal spokes of my 1972 steering Wheel. I will use a wire brush and then a satin or semigloss black paint with primer spray. Anyway i wanted to know what is the process to clean the Wooden Wheel and the correct original paint color.
