If you look a couple inches or so up the sides of the hatch opening you can see where it was welded. I noticed the filler too. I'm not sure what that's hiding.

If you're referring to that rusty joint, that's not where it was spliced in. You can see the weld where they spliced it just outside of the hatch sill. It's going on a diagonal toward the bottom inside corner of the hatch opening.

I believe that valence was used on Zs from 1974 (early 260z) up through '76. It was changed for the '77 model year.

We're talking about the same splice. The one done at an angle. I also believe that valance was used 74-76.

Notice the small holes on the tail light cut-outs (towards the license plate mount). They look to line up with the shape of a late 260/280 tail light. Just saying, not knocking....done as part of the piece or afterwards.

No offense taken. We may work on it some today after it warms up a little...

We messed with the car some more. We have gotten the water out of the engine and we can turn it by hand but it's very tight. Took the carbs off and will try to clean them up. The battery charged up. So if I can get it loose enough we will move on to check spark...

We have gotten the motor to turn over with a ratchet. I have worked on disassembling the SU's. Wow!

I had a fit getting this piston out...

The issue I have now is getting the throttle plates to move. If I could get them to move I could probably salvage these, believe it or not. But right now the plates don't even wiggle. Might try some heat tomorrow to try to get some movement...
