Make sure the pan gasket surface is flat and do not over tighten. 7ftlbs IIRC which is not much. You do not have to pull the motor to remove the pan, you just need to get the crankshaft turned so the front of the pan can get past the throw of #1 crank pin. Dave WM, Thanks.... I´ll try that... Do you have a site where I can order one of those MSA? Dave WM Posted March 15, 2018 Share #26 Posted March 15, 2018 this is what I used, but again, I think its overkill. It just I did not want to have to mess with it again. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic12a04/10-2466 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/59659-restoring-the-undercarriage/?page=3#findComment-544657 Share on other sites

Q1: What is a well tested sealant brand and type that you can recommend for sealing the back top corners of timing cover to the head, and for sealing the rear main bearing & side seals. Q2: Any special way/locations for placing the sealant when doing the rear main (engine rebuild)? Thanks Permatex high temp anaerobic flange sealant. This stuff is made for those apps Blue. 2 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/59659-restoring-the-undercarriage/?page=3#findComment-544680 Share on other sites
