Frankenstein Posted October 3, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 3, 2018 Anyone? Needs to be correct year. I know earlier models will fit. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/60858-75-76-fuel-sending-unit-needed/ Share on other sites
zKars Posted October 3, 2018 Share #2 Posted October 3, 2018 I know I have a few 240 models, which fit and work, but need to have wiring adaptation done. You will also loose the 'empty' warning with the early sender as it doesn't have the extra sensor. Let me see if I have a 280 sender. Would of course be better. Frankenstein Posted October 3, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted October 3, 2018 I am trying to get a 24k mile original ready for auction. I am hoping not to have to mess up wiring Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/60858-75-76-fuel-sending-unit-needed/#findComment-558751 Share on other sites
wheee! Posted October 3, 2018 Share #4 Posted October 3, 2018 unicorn..... I had no luck sourcing one a couple years ago. I had to buy a tank with old unit inside. Even that took two years to find. Mark Maras Posted October 3, 2018 Share #9 Posted October 3, 2018 Check it for elec. continuity first. Whee was the one that told us about soaking sending units in CLR. I've saved a couple of sending units using his tip. The worst one had good continuity but was rusted up solid. Nothing would move. That one took 48 hours in CLR. It came out looking good and worked great. 2 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/60858-75-76-fuel-sending-unit-needed/#findComment-558793 Share on other sites

rcb280z Posted October 3, 2018 Share #11 Posted October 3, 2018 Anything is better than spending $250 for a rebuilt one, that's for sure. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/60858-75-76-fuel-sending-unit-needed/#findComment-558796 Share on other sites

I think I read once that the tractor sending unit will work, you just have to bend the float rod a bit? Mine leaks... I just keep it below 3/4 tank for now. Or maybe it was a forklift?
