ConVerTT Posted April 29, 2020 Author Share #375 Posted April 29, 2020 (edited) Unbolted most of the jig today - basically it is just a two legged dolly now - and I am happy to report that nothing bad happened...no flex, twist or release .... And chipped out the last of the sound deadening in the trunk ... ...and vacuumed out all the junk. She hasn't been cleaner in at least 40 years .... ...so I think she's "ready to roll". ?? ConVerTT Posted April 30, 2020 Author Share #379 Posted April 30, 2020 (edited) Muahahaha -haha ??? Bottom looks better than I thought .... I guess there is a LOT of new metal already It's a little bottom heavy so I might need to raise it a little bit tomorrow. ?? So I am tempted to drag it outside and pressure wash the bottom before bead blasting. Maybe dry it with a leaf blower? Any thoughts? Namerow Posted April 30, 2020 Share #380 Posted April 30, 2020 What is the black-ish coating seen on the back half of the underside? Is it paint? Or is it undercoating? wheee! Posted April 30, 2020 Share #381 Posted April 30, 2020 No need to wash it if you’re media blasting. It’s all coming off... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/61483-240z-fabbing-new-front-rails/?page=32#findComment-598436 Share on other sites

Or is it undercoating? It's basically mixed crud - dirt, remnants of two types of undercoat (one is hard, one is kind of oily), some surface rust. Can't be sure about paint honestly Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/61483-240z-fabbing-new-front-rails/?page=32#findComment-598448 Share on other sites

Patcon Posted April 30, 2020 Share #384 Posted April 30, 2020 Soft surfaces are hard to media blast. If it will come off with a pressure washers I would do that 1 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/61483-240z-fabbing-new-front-rails/?page=32#findComment-598480 Share on other sites
