z8987 Posted February 10, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 10, 2019 I've been reading about fuel tanks. Some of the links have been on here since Al Gore invented the net. Is POR still the thing to use? Is there a better product? Or a similar product that is the latest. Since I know nothing about 240z, and I've heard about fuel fumes in the cabin, how can I eliminate the possibility of fumes ? siteunseen Posted February 10, 2019 Share #3 Posted February 10, 2019 (edited) This was most helpful for me on my 240. Got a lot of info but ended up using Red-Kote like I did on my 280 whisc I used this other link. Confusing, I know. I just woke up. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/fuel/gastank/index.htm Edited February 10, 2019 by siteunseen Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/61582-fuel-tank-paint-etc/#findComment-567931 Share on other sites

w3wilkes Posted February 10, 2019 Share #5 Posted February 10, 2019 A couple of years ago when I did my tank I used this stuff and it has held up nicely. https://www.amazon.com/KBS-Coatings-5200-Standard-Sealer/dp/B00DMIDUUY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1531949798&sr=8-2&keywords=kbs+tank+sealer Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/61582-fuel-tank-paint-etc/#findComment-567951 Share on other sites

charliekwin Posted February 11, 2019 Share #7 Posted February 11, 2019 I used Red Kote on the inside of mine. I spent a HUGE amount of time reading all kinds of posts about what to use on the outside and have since decided that it probably doesn't make that much of a difference. If I were doing it again, I think I'd just clean up the outside, spray on epoxy primer, and hit it with whatever catalyzed black paint I could find. (For the record, I ended up using this stuff: https://nomorerust.com/store/home/14-mastercoat-super-special-chassis-kit.html) 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/61582-fuel-tank-paint-etc/#findComment-567979 Share on other sites
