Mr. A Posted February 23, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 23, 2019 A long time (1996) ago I bought a 280z. My intent was to make a fast car. The block was taken to the machine shop, preped and pronounced good. Then the block was sprayed with heavy grease and wrapped up. 20+ years later and my life has taken another direction. This engine needs a new home. Seriously, if someone is interested and willing to pay 300 + shipping then please get in touch. I believe the bores are stock diameter. Shipping can be avoided if you want to travel to Va.Beach, VA. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/61657-l28-bare-block-n42-for-sale/ Share on other sites
Zed Head Posted February 23, 2019 Share #2 Posted February 23, 2019 (edited) Mmmmm...cosmoline. What does "preped" mean, and "good"? Good for immediate reassembly or good for machine work? Looks like they removed all of the core plugs. Probably hot-tanked it. Was any machine work done? You said engine but just show a block. Are there more parts? Just trying to help out. @Mr. A Edited February 23, 2019 by Zed Head Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/61657-l28-bare-block-n42-for-sale/#findComment-569198 Share on other sites
Mr. A Posted February 24, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted February 24, 2019 Thanks for the reply Zed Head. The only thing being offered is the bare block. The machine shop cleaned and checked the critical diemensions and, if memory serves me correctley, did a light hone on the cylinders and crank bores. In other words, it does not need to be machined. Additionally, the flashing was removed by me. The preserving grease is similar to Cosmoline, hard to remove and an excellent rust preventitive. If anyone is really willing to pay for the block, I will clean it enough to make diametrical measurments. Zed Head Posted February 24, 2019 Share #4 Posted February 24, 2019 They make nice coffee tables. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/61657-l28-bare-block-n42-for-sale/#findComment-569269 Share on other sites
Mr. A Posted February 24, 2019 Author Share #5 Posted February 24, 2019 No they don't. Stub your toe on this, it's going to hurt a lot more than some spindly wood coffee table leg. Anyways, forum mates, I have a block in really good shape and I figgure this is the place where it should be sold. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/61657-l28-bare-block-n42-for-sale/#findComment-569275 Share on other sites
siteunseen Posted February 24, 2019 Share #6 Posted February 24, 2019 Someone closer will get it. People can hardly sale cylinder heads because of shipping. I'd get if I were nearby. Good luck.
