Used to be that when I closed a browser I would have to re-login when I opened it again.  Recently I've seen that even after shutting down my computer completely, overnight, I am still logged in, or automatically re-logged in when I open the browser in the morning.  There was no notification of this change on the CZCC site.  And I never click the little banner at the bottom, acknowledging cookies.  Edit - actually it could be the browser I use.  Still, the same, it changed the default setting.  I'll have to go check that out.

I know that my browsing history is stored and reused whenever I open a browser.  Just found it interesting that it is now the norm that our browsing will be tracked in real-time, all the time, as soon as the computer is turned on.

The funniest thing is though, that I am never going to buy one of those t-shirts or the brown alligator skin (?) boots, or even click-through to the site.  

Anyway, if you decide that you don't want to be tracked you should actually go up and "sign out".  Even though, as I understand things, Facebook for example, they still might not really sign you out, and still track you.  Probably have to clear browsing history, even though that might even be fake.  It's not even Big Brother anymore, it's Creepy Stranger.

Hmmm, mine has always stayed logged-in.  I use Chrome.

I'm still "signed in" from 2011. Chrome also.

I use Firefox and stay logged in, but I also don't power my laptop off. I will have to check if it logs me out on restart. I doubt it...

This is caused by the automatic login setting.  If you're concerned about it, you can change your preferences in the account settings.  Go to devices and you can shut off the automatic login for any device used to connect to the site.  Also if you want to see relevant ads to your browsing preferences, accept the cookies and you'll see stuff that you're interested in.  Otherwise, you'll get random ads as promoted by Google.

Even more interesting, as I dug around I found that there were about 20 sites that had added themselves to the "exceptions" list of my browser to allow ads through.  The browser I use has automatic ad blocking.  You have to opt-in to ads.  Somehow classiczcars.com was on that list, allowing ads through.  I emptied the whole list.

So, ironically, because I didn't like to be logged in all of the time, I ended up removing CZCC from the ad-blocking exceptions list.  So now I don't see the ads.

It's not personal Mike.  I don't really care much about ads in general, they're part of every day life.  Some of them were actually interesting.  But, it is very nice to not see the pervy ads at the top of the page though.  And the soft porn at the bottom of the page is gone too.  It's all good now...

All changes and settings ask for your confirmation.  For instance, the log in setting requires that you click the "remember me" checkbox when you log in.  We also give you the ability to control all of these settings from your account controls.  As far as ads, I've turned off all dating ads and Google does not allow anything related to adult material.

Remember, we do have an option for turning off ads with a subscription.  Our main source of income (to keep our lights on) is provided by user subscriptions and Google Ads.  Once we get to a point where we can stand on our own, Google Ads will be removed.  Until then, all I can do is try new things to help keep our little club going.  ?

I'm talking about the browser, maybe the site.  I don't have to click anything to log in.  I just type in my user name, password and hit Enter.  Maybe the default setting for the "remember me" button was changed?  Still not sure why, from nowhere, I was logged in all of the time.  I'll log out and check that remember me button setting.

I can't subscribe to a site that labels me abusive, for rejecting another member's blatant abuse, with no detail on why.  Sorry Mike...principles.  Plus, I try to create value myself with constructive comments.  If there's no value added from the members then site traffic will probably drop.  Consider.

I only created this thread for amusing discussion.  I came out ahead though.

Alrighty, found it.  The default for "Remember Me" used to be off, now it's on.  Don't know how it happened, it had to be out there somewhere, I can't change that setting.

Once I sign out, I'm not a user anymore.  That's the dilemma of the default sign-in setting.  The sign-in menu is not user-based.

Not a biggy.  I just didn't notice that the default had changed.  Either that or the "Remember me" power got strong enough to remember me after a browser shut down.  My browser is set to not remember any passwords but I know that the browser history is maintained.  Somebody probably figured out how to defeat the forget password function.  You know that there are coders out there working full time on  how to hold a person's history.  It's where the money is.

Probably just part of the new AI internet.

Funny though that the picture you pasted shows location tracking.  Were you really in Puyallup or is that where the server linked you in?  That function is still not very exact.  They'll fix it soon, I'm sure.

Nothing has changed.  It's been this way for years.  It's user-based.

It's quite accurate, actually.  The IP address for my service is owned by my Internet provider.  I connect to their network, and this IP is routed out to the public through their Puyallup data center.  You'll rarely see an IP address show someone's physical location.  This kind of information is typically buried underneath your account at the service provider.  The only real exception is an application that uses GPS tracking, which we don't use here.
