NVZEE2 Posted May 4, 2019 Share #1 Posted May 4, 2019 From facebook, the annual Donington Park Historic Festival is this weekend in the UK, and once again it includes a gathering of Samuri Z’s. https://www.samurimotorcompany.com/history-of-samuri-motor-company Jonathan Kinghorn photo. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/62108-samuris-at-donington-park/ Share on other sites

Mike Posted May 7, 2019 Share #5 Posted May 7, 2019 This is pretty cool.. can you tell me a bit more about these cars? I see they are all painted the same but is this a club or does a single company own them all? Guest Posted May 7, 2019 Share #6 Posted May 7, 2019 Not being a Brit, I have to rely on the interwebs for info but recognize Big Sam as a racing icon of the era. The street cars were specially modified and detailed in a small production run, something akin to Scarab but without the V8 and related hardware. From the history link in the first post, Samuri ... “went on to build around 74 examples of the uprated road going Z’s called the Super Samuri.” Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/62108-samuris-at-donington-park/#findComment-574979 Share on other sites

Guest Posted May 7, 2019 Share #8 Posted May 7, 2019 FWIW, the Greenlight toy car people have a Hot Wheels sized Big Sam in an upcoming release. They've done a pretty good job of recognizing Zs in their Japanese car selection, including models that represent BRE, Bob Sharp, Safari, rally and Baja versions (like Carl Beck's BRE offroader). In their scale and price range, details can be ... vague, but overall it's been a good assortment. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/62108-samuris-at-donington-park/#findComment-574984 Share on other sites
Mike Posted May 7, 2019 Share #9 Posted May 7, 2019 Sounds like I need to keep an eye out for this Hot Wheel next! ? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/62108-samuris-at-donington-park/#findComment-574991 Share on other sites
Jason240z Posted May 7, 2019 Share #10 Posted May 7, 2019 The history is quite a bit more vague than the scarabs. They didn't make 74 cars, the company that now owns the name is hoping to try and cash in on it, with a dubious start. Some of the cars were nothing more than a set of triples and wheels. There's 3 or 4 with good history(big sam), the rest are without it(69 cars and counting) Some cars called samurais are not classed as so by the guy that came up with the concept, theres more cars being added to the register each year. Theres no set spec, no set design, no set anything. 2 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/62108-samuris-at-donington-park/#findComment-575001 Share on other sites

Only not a Hot Wheel, just similar in scale but not as common in the big-box stores. Why not celebrate what was the UK's biggest collection of S30 and 14 Samuri on display, rather than your usual derogatory nonsense. The weekend was amazing and why not just repeat what Mike the administrator said on here "Awesome, thanks for sharing!!
