I don't think you can just copy them out of stainless.. as there is some spring (Hardened?) steel In those anti-squeal shims.. (That's why they can rust a little bit)

The anti-squael would not work..

Assuming you could find a suitable stainless, I think it would work just fine. I think the rust you often see on them comes from the non-stainless parts that come into contact with the shims, not the shims themselves. In other words, I don't think the shims are rusted at all... I think that rust is just mechanically transferred onto them by rubbing against other rusty parts.

@Patcon, are the shims magnetic?

I don't think that they are heat-treated to be "springy".  I remember straightening the bends out of the ones that I had.  They definitely make a difference.  I tried the various treatments and greases but only reinstallng the straightened/flattened shims solved the problem.

I don't remember, what did you end up doing for carpet?

I couldn't find anything that was like the original.  I bought the Essex version of this as temporary solution.  It is pile.

I tried to take the jute off of the back of one of the pieces that goes behind the seats as a test - I wanted to install all of the pieces of this carpet with the jute I got from England which looks kind of like the original jute.  Unfortunately, the jute couldn't be pulled away from the carpet backing without damaging the carpet.  The carpet backing is super thin, and the glue wouldn't let go without pulling tufts of carpet with it.

The kit as received is nice.  It fits well and I think it would be durable enough.  But, it isn't like the original (neither is the loop version).

I had some fun putting yellow paint on the suspension bolts yesterday.  I took some a bunch of closeups.

The last picture above is of the left outer tie rod end.  As taken out of the box, it had a yellow paint swipe across the top.  I'm not sure what that means.  The "green monster" on BAT has a yellow paint mark that goes around the rod.

Anyone have any of the "short" luggage straps on hand?  I need measurements of the lengths of both parts of one.  Unfortunately, during restoration of mine, I didn't think it through, and I sent long ones as patterns to replicate.  So, I have restored long ones now.

Very nice! What a beautiful restoration. I find a couple of pumps of the throttle before starting makes mine fire a bit quicker. After it sits for an extended time, it always takes time to fire up. I guess that's why later ones had the electric pump added.

Sorry if i sound a bit of a critic (a$$hole.. ) but i think you missed the resoning of the yellow paint on the bolts..

It needs to be just a little stripe of paint that indicates if a screw has come loose after some time.. not thowing a lot of paint on some screws..🙈

Metron Marker as a Torque Seal, Torque Stripe, Tamper Seal, and ...

Just a stripe or a little blob..  It's function is that your sure you installed the bolt to specifications AND that you can see on a later inspection if anything has moved!

I hope you can take my criticism..  lately more and more people 🙊  can't..   (I'm just here to learn some english and teach others some things in exchange. 😁)
