  • Thanks.  Good to know.  I'm not a target market for apps and stuff though.  Pretty computer savvy but I don't keep up with all the latest "advancements".  Words have worked fine for millennia, I don't

I think this is due to the dynamic nature of the software.  This means that threads can change and using post numbers can likely lead to an incorrect reference in the future.

Personally, I would take that risk and bring back the post numbers if you can.

To me, it's a lot easier to say "like so-n-so said in post #2" as opposed to saying "like in post https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/63613-post-numbers/?do=findComment&comment=593189"

Is this the same upgrade that nuked the condensed view of the recent activity?

I'm getting a new notification message now.  "Posting a link to my content".  Feels important.  Never seen it before.  Despite the mass of humanity, with their AI phones, that uses the dipod (I was incorrectly calling it a tripod.  It obviously only has two points of earth contact).

LoL, you guys are funny..  I'm right up there with you when it comes to new acronyms or icons that represent something.  I'm only savvy with it because I do a lot of programming and social media links.  Unfortunately the post number feature is a goner.  The feature constantly needed updates when new versions of our forum software were installed and I think the guy who gave it to me is MIA.

Also keep in mind that post numbers can change too.  For instance, if we have 50 posts and something in position 25 is deleted, the post count can be off.  We don't see it that often, though.

For some reason, post numbers are no longer in the base forum software anymore.  But, I'll keep looking to see if I can find something.  From what I can tell, it looks like you guys are already using the post links pretty well.  ?

I'm not sure if this was tongue in cheek or not, but our use of the post links above were to illustrate how unreadable it makes the thread. I find the format above very disjointed and difficult to read.

I still miss having a long list of Thread titles to browse through instead of a long list of posts.  There's a lot that is making the site less user-friendly.  I'm trying to find a not very old Thread and I have to scroll down through a bunch of posts like the ones in this thread.  Ironic!

And the odd "Forums" page format.  The old list style was much better.  The new "Boxes" look is terrible.  Sometimes the old way is actually the better way.  Change is not always good.

Back to my search for that thread....

This is not useful Mike.  Bad!

Just to be more clear.  There is a "Topics last 24 Hours" view.  But the "All Activity" view is all posts.  We need a "Topics Last 500 hours" list, or just "All Topics, Newest First",  to scroll through.  Remembering a topic from over 24 hours old means you have to scroll through posts to find it.

It bears repeating.

Hello Mike.  Sorry to keep picking on you about this but it's a real bummer.  And I just found a new change, that maybe you can do something about.

I used to be able to search my own content, then choose Topics on the sidebar, and I would see a list of Topics that I had posted in.  Now when I click Topics what i get is a list of Topics that I started.  Not the same thing.  The reason I would click Topics is the same reason that I would like to see older Topics on one page.  So that a person doesn't have to look through all of the posts on a popular topic.
