I think that rich powerful people generally think of the "rest of us" as a herd. A work force to be managed. So a few of the herd get damaged or die, there's plenty more to take their place. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/63698-covid-19/?page=120#findComment-612749 Share on other sites
Zed Head Posted December 18, 2020 Author Share #1432 Posted December 18, 2020 Here's another "maybe the scientists know what they're talking about" story. I wonder how this guy thought before he saw what happens first-hand. He's the manager, the guy that makes the rules and sets the tone for the team and staff. How did so many get infected at the same time? Young and super fit is no shield. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/dec/18/newcastle-manager-steve-bruce-shocked-by-effect-of-covid-on-players Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/63698-covid-19/?page=120#findComment-612750 Share on other sites
Namerow Posted December 18, 2020 Share #1433 Posted December 18, 2020 Well then, how about the entire country of supposedly-sane Sweden, whose population was -- willingly, it would seem -- lured into a 'herd immunity' strategy by a smooth-talking politician-type and whose king yesterday pronounced the whole thing a failure (he didn't use the word, 'sham' but I will). But even as I read these stories, I have the feeling that half the population is saying, 'Yeah, ok, we f-d up. So where's the reset button?' There is no reset button. In my day, we understood that there are 'actions' and 'consequences'. End of rant. Zed Head Posted December 19, 2020 Author Share #1434 Posted December 19, 2020 They're starting to come around, barely. New rush hour rules. Their plan was that, supposedly, each individual would make the safe choice for everyone. Individual responsibility with concern for fellow citizens. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-55371102 Sweden's government is recommending wearing face masks on public transport during the rush hour, reversing its earlier Covid guidance. It will also cut from the current eight to four per table the number of people sitting together in restaurants, and ban alcohol sales after 20:00. Zed Head Posted December 19, 2020 Author Share #1435 Posted December 19, 2020 Virus variant. So, does the variation cause more spreading or does the spreading cause more variation? https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/19/uk/christmas-covid-strain-restrictions-intl-gbr/index.html "The spread is being driven by the new variant of the virus," Johnson said in a hastily called press conference. "It appears to spread more easily and may be up to 70% more transmissable than the earlier strain." Zed Head Posted December 19, 2020 Author Share #1438 Posted December 19, 2020 Here's an America story. A guy who thinks he might have COVID gets on a plane back to LA from Disney World, lies on the airline's COVID questionnaire about his symptoms, then dies on the flight. He either got it in Disney World or had it before he got there. This is why it's just not safe to travel. https://www.scarymommy.com/covid-19-death-flight/?utm_source=yahoo&utm_campaign=feed The plane, which was scheduled to fly from Orlando to Los Angeles, made an unscheduled landing in New Orleans after a man on the flight suffered a cardiac arrest. While first responders tended to the man, flight crew members overheard his wife telling the healthcare workers that her husband had been experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19. However, she and her husband had not disclosed the symptoms — which included the loss of taste and smell — prior to boarding the flight, according to the Times report. Zed Head Posted December 21, 2020 Author Share #1439 Posted December 21, 2020 Drew Brees seems like one of the more intelligent quarterbacks around and even he doesn't know how to wear a face covering, apparently. Can't figure out if these guys really are just dumb or if they know better and are making some sort of statement. Just some weird weird stuff going on in the world today.
