Is it really ridiculous?  Not one of the COVID-19 vaccines have been FDA approved.

The FDA is not really what people think it is.  It suffers from serious "mission drift".  It needs a major overhaul.

LOL. Yeah, what science fiction was that one? Resident Evil? Did I get the right one?

Big corporation builds virus in an attempt to create a super-soldier. Doesn't work right and escapes from the lab and animates dead tissue. That's the one, right?  LOL

I haven't seen the Resident Evil movies...  probably would be good time to catch up.  I believe another one is World War Z..

The Black Box.  Probably would have had to get a "Q" clearance.  Q used to mean just a certain level of security clearance.  I assume that "Q", whoever Q is/are, has/had a Q clearance, hence the moniker "Q".

Anyway, you missed out on the whole Boeing culture in the PNW.  Work hard, get laid off, collect unemployment knowing that the cycle will repeat.  I had some friends in the Boeing world.  No offense Racer I don't know if you're an engineer or not.  But there really is a "Boeing way of life" out here.

Who doesn't need a major overhaul?  CDC also suffering from massive mission drift as well...

The point was that FDA approval is not worth much.

I think that overall we got got lucky that there are good individuals in these various bureaucracies that know how to work within them to get good things done.  But eventually the bureaucracies will get so corrupted that nobody can get anything done.  It's already happening in branches of government.

Let's hope that some rebuilding happens after this close call.  And be thankful for the people that pushed the working vaccines through.  If you believe the reporting, they actually work, with no side effects.  I feel fine.

Let's pray these current shots given to the masses will eventually turn into vetted and approved vaccines.

Agreed. I consider that merely a formality, as the world has already approved and accepted them, but it will eliminate some arguments.

One of the great ironies of the situation, and one of the reasons that I believe in the vaccines, is that any pharma company that released a vaccine that damaged people would get destroyed in the stock market.  The spotlight is so bright that they would not be able to BS their way out of it.

They tell me that I can’t really call myself a Boeing employee until I’ve been laid off and been rehired at least twice.

I expect to retire in a few months, after just over seven years as a machinist. Never been through a layoff or a strike.

Must have missed the layoff/strike part of the culture, eh?

Some people were fearful of Jenner and Pasture when they first "invented" vaccines.

Some people were fearful of telephones spreading germs when they first were invented.

It is normal for some people in society to be more cautious... a survival instinct.

The Black Box? So that's what they call that one. Been many moons, but faded brain cells support that moniker.

Didn't know that about the layoff-rehire culture. Probably due to the contract style of relationship with their customers. Not very disappointed that I missed out on that.
