Another orange one for comparison.  Resto'ed with a driving video.  Not so sure about the wheel choice.

I think this one should do well. A nice, clean, fresh, numbers matching original car. The crankcase was finished with Glyptal, something I do to every engine I build. A rotisserie build, every detail addressed. I like the "BBS" look wheels, but prefer the gold centers, and they could be an inch wider, with 225-50 series tires.

I spotted this '72 240Z (HLS30-90400 w/ matching-numbers engine L24-113769) on the Los Angeles Craigslist: https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/d/oceano-datsun-240z-1972-owned-48-years/7315412820.html

The weird capitalization makes me queasy.  $1, no VIN, email your phone number...?  Looks scammy, or at least a strange person to deal with.

An orange Z is up today.  Seems like it should do well.  Survivorish.  Good start for a resto maybe.

The front end and from a side view looks way off, it had some front end damage I think

Well, in your defense, it does say "by Nissan" in fine print on the rear ZX badge.

Edit:  I'm not sure what happened, but when i posted this, the last post was stating about how it still said Datsun on the ZX, but when I hit submit reply, like 9 or so other posts materialized instantly.  So disregard, it's already been addressed.

I'm not sure  that I get the same feeling about this seller as you do, Zed Head.  As shown below, the seller provided pictures of the Data Plate in the driver's door jamb, the Data Plate in the engine bay and the Engine Number.  However, now that I think about it a little more, I don't ever recall seeing a seller only looking for a best offer before. Normally, the seller will always have an asking price.

It's Just an Odd Way to Write.  A couple of Capitals for Emphasis is Normal but When You Sprinkle so Many in they Make Little Sense.  It's Actually Harder to keep Hitting the Shift Button to write in This Weird Way.  Which Makes it Even Weirder.  Hence Queasy.

What the heck is that mounted over the data plate? Never seen that before.

The voltage regulator has been relocated from its usual position and it's hood cover is missing.  Might be something to do with clearance when the dealer installed ac was added.

Nevertheless, a dumb place to put it and ruin the data plate.   I have seen that exact same thing done before.
