Just wondering about some input on the valve cover gasket material.  I am seeing cork/rubber and composite material listed with very little additional info.  Which seems to work better on this long valve cover?  Also wondering about the valve stem seals   Are the VITON material seals the best choice or should we spend the extra money on the polyacrylic seals.  Looking at the MAHLE brand for the seals.  Thanks for all the help on this resurrection project.  Just trying to line up all the parts needed for the cylinder head rebuild.  Thanks, John-Lugoff, SC.

I don't have any input on the valve cover gasket, but for the valve stem seals... It is my understanding that the Viton is the "top of the line" and polyacrylic is not as good. I don't think you should pay more for polyacrylic, and in fact, I think the price should be lower for the polyacrylic.

Any of you engine guys have input to confirm or deny my understandings?

@Captain Obvious from what i understand Viton is the bees knees, I use them in the several motors I’ve put together.

As for the valve cover I’ve used the composite on the Z and there’s always been a little leak in the back corner, not much though. I’ve yet to try the cork ones, might be worth testing it out, I’m not sure how it would hold to multiple removals, I hear some people throw black RTV between the valve cover and the seal.
