For quite a while I was getting an ear wax ad on this site, and I searched the internet and found that it shows up around the web.  There are theories that it is done purposely by Google to get people to "personalize" their ad content.  I don't know but if anyone knows how to stop them I'm all ears (clean ones).  Anyway, here's the latest that pops up.  Can't understand how Google even lets it through.

  • The bidet has always intrigued me, but I have yet to use one. The splash of cold water is a concern, then there is the wetness after. Toilet paper breaks down pretty quickly when wet, so I doubt it wo

  • Yep, signed in.  I think IP address location probably plays a a part, like heyitsrama said.  What's funny though is that the "web" thinks that I am located many many miles from where I actually am.

The AI bots think that I am an old guy with dirty ears who can't reach his own butt

All I'm saying is when I step through mud I don't clean my boots with a towel.

IP addresses can change day to day because they are (usually) dynamically assigned by your ISP. (unless you pay $$ for static IPs), but yeah mine shows 10 miles off from where I am.

Zed do you have any browser extensions installed? I don't see that many ads when i turned off my blockers, @siteunseen might be onto something with adware. https://www.malwarebytes.com/adware/

Edit:

websites that are usually browsed by men tend to have “male enhancement” ads, I get them and I’m not 30 yet, I also get hair loss supplement ads but I have all my hair...

No offense hey, but I think you're looking at trees but I'm talking about the forest.  A typical "session" might be me browsing around to news sites and this forum and others, checking email, etc.  So, say I get on to CZCC and I see an ad with a big gob of nasty brown ear wax.  I hit the little "x" up in the corner and it goes away, and a little menu pops up that says "why this ad/send feedback".  I ignore it.  Browse around some more and the same nasty ear wax ad pops up.  Over and over, like the "wipe your butt" ad.

So, forest-wise, what would be the point of inflicting nasty repulsive ear wax ads on a user of a web site?  Most web sites try to get us to do more stuff, not try to get us to go away.

That is my current sociology study.  Just trying to understand.  It makes no sense.

I get at least one phone call a day about my car warranty. I have never had a new enough car with a warranty. There needs to be an update to Murphy's Law. If the infonet can do it they'll do it over and over until we die then our loved ones will be harrassed and so on. Too many bad actors, lazy folks are here and they aren't leaving.

Oh yeah edit: now they are teaching online coding so every freak can learn how to scam.

To be fair Zed you titled this helpful and humorous thread "nasty arse..."

I don't get a toshay out of you? I need to learn to spell that word.

Touche.  Translated it just means touch.  Everything sounds better in French.

Well as a fellow stickler as you and I are I feel you should be aware of the main meaning of that beautiful French word that sounds like douche.

It comes from fencing.  When you break your opponent's guard and touch them with your foil, you shout "touche, you douche" and continue the battle.

I don't get any ads because I use AdBlocker, so I think it's funny that in this thread, and only this thread, I'm seeing ads because you guys are posting pictures of them. Imagine how happy these companies would be to know you guys are unintentionally advertising for them!

I don't get any ads on any sites except when I go on amazon or ebay, don't know what I'm doing right, I just chalk it up to my general lack of computer know how.

I don't either. My new pain, and I can't stop it with my old windows 7, is autoplay. I look at TMZ once a day and my adblocker showed 350 today. I'm using my phone more and more because of the adware on my laptop. Time to spend $1,000 for a new one? Nope!
