Just thought this was funny.  Earlier in this thread I quoted somebody's post and could not delete the ads so they ended up somehow as giant invisible spaces in the post.  Just now I posted and every space has an ad inserted.  Barely readable.

I think I've figured out something I can do for the general membership.  I'm going to disable the Infolinks ad at the bottom.  I think this is the one that is pushing ads into your replies.  That ad is primarily intended for people browsing the site without logging in (or setting up an account) anyway and I don't know why it's turned on for actual members.  In order to reply, the site requires that you create an account anyway, so it should be off.  ** Please let me know if this helps offset some of the frustrations around ads being shown inside your replies.

I also don't know why ads are popping up because I have that explicitly disabled.  Do you guys have some kind of add-on that could be doing it?  Automatic sounds, pop-ups, and should only happen if you click (or hover) an ad.

The one at the bottom of the web page (on a home computer) does not seem to be popping up anymore. At least for me. It would pop up on every new page opened before and was quite annoying. I have not seen the in thread ads yet, but just got home and started my daily internet check.

@MikeIt's a little over the top when you recruit our members for the ads.  But I did enjoy the happy dance by @Captain Obvious

I think they snuck in newer upgrade CO. Seems a little more "trying too hard" to be the previous one plus the Hair for Men color change. I tried that Shinola once and when I started sweating it burnt my eyes.

It's good to know I'm not the first person haunted by the good Captain in the website ads.

For me, I was looking at a thread where @Captain Obviouscontributed, and I closed the tab. I opened the site in a new tab, and lo & behold, there's the Captain making a pitch at the top of the home page.

Hmmm... I wonder if it's picking up my forum name and running a CO ad because of the relation. That would be disappointing.

Maybe I'll change my forum name to Captain Amazon or Ebay?
