Hi all,

I appreciate your patience as I ran through a number of updates to our site today.  The system was offline for approx 4-5 hours as I went through the system and made these updates.  There was a pretty big backlog and I ran through everything in a single swoop.  As always, please let me know if you see anything that isn't working right (or just looks funny).  Thank you!

Mike

Too much white space. Google did the same with their news. It is unbearable.  Made for phone GUIs suck.   If you can't afford a computer or bigger screen, you should not have a car.

Phones are for lazy people.

People who like to see the internet on a small screen are not evolved.

Not you.... the $^!# software these day.

I have fire fox scaling to 67% and I can only see 5.5 Fn new topics.  I don't want to have to scroll my life away.

With fire fox at 100% scale I see just two new topics!  It sucks.  I hate the internet and modern wanker programmers.

Check it now...  the software set to a fixed width.  Now it's set to 'fluid'

Hmmm... I had a bunch of comments, and then I tried a different (not obsolete) browser and most of my comments became moot. But just for posterity, here's what I found using my ancient version of IE:

1) Pictures no longer show up in-line (at least not when you are not logged in). Now if you want to see the pics, you need to click on each one individually.

2) No delineation around quoted material. Makes it hard to figure out what was quoted and when the quoting ends.

3) No delineation between different posts on a thread. Makes it a little difficult to figure out where one post ends and the next one starts

On Chrome, it looks completely different and these issues went away. I know... I get what I deserve.

Yeah, old browsers just aren't up to par when it comes to browsing modern sites.  Unfortunately nothing I can do about that.

  1. This is a bandwidth reduction method.  I can turn it off but let's see how everyone gets used to it.
  2. The light theme definitely has this looking good.  I just made a change to the dark theme that should highlight quotes better.
  3. Again this must only be limited to the dark theme because the light theme looks fine.
  4. Another one related to the dark mode perhaps?  Unless all of this is related to an ancient browser...

Ohh... I see a trend here... lol

Before it was full screen, but now Im getting thread info on right side and when you scroll down just blank grey space on the right.

Ah, yes that's the new detail bar on the right...  I'll look at options to see if we can reduce it.  Are you running full screen in that snapshot?

Well I did manage to get rid of the detail menu on the right side when viewing a thread.  I don't really like it though because the menu bar had a good summary of the thread without needing to scroll through the whole thing.  It also had a summary of photos included in the thread.

BTW, @EuroDat are you browsing on a computer or a mobile device?  If a computer, are you at maximum resolution or is your zoom cranked way up?  Just asking because it doesn't seem to be a problem on my computer now that fluid width is turned on.

PS:  I also noticed the "Expand" option only works on quoted material, not all graphics.

I got it like eurodat, just 3/4 of the screen, on the right 1/4 is a grey unused part.

on a desktop with windows 10 and microsoft edge..

To get whole use of the screen i have to zoom 175%  and then the letters are very big..
