I’m using simple green to take off the layers of grime. I used a plastic scraper on the thick stuff on the struts. It takes the paint off. I started using a plastic brush, it works but the thick stuff is a problem, any ideas on a better way to remove the thick grime? I used plastic paint scrapers. They're cheap so you can get a few sizes. I like Murphy's oil soap. It's a good cleaner and no harmful chemicals. Mix it with super hot water for the best results. I have a plastic coffee container with a lid and microwave it before using. Sponge it on let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes then scrap the greasy goop off. KenFirch Posted January 22, 2022 Share #14 Posted January 22, 2022 Took a short drive out to 8789’s house today to check out his new acquisition since we live in the same town. Awesome looking car! He forgot a pic of the original antenna. [emoji106] Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/66275-new-gold-standard/?page=2#findComment-634682 Share on other sites

Patcon Posted January 22, 2022 Share #16 Posted January 22, 2022 Simple green is pretty benign. if it takes the paint off Purple Power probably will too. Drop back to hot water and Dawn dish soap. You might be able to up it to dishwasher soap which is a little stronger... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalkhttps://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/handbook/vehicle-industry-registration-procedures-manual-2/special-plates/year-of-manufacture-yom-license-plates/You’ll need to hunt around or buy a pair of blue plates, and an old 1970 year sticker. Got my sticker off eBay, plates can be found other places, and may be priced at $200-300 depending on condition. For a 70 I’d try to get a pair that start with a lower number since that was to first year for blue plates.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/66275-new-gold-standard/?page=2#findComment-634691 Share on other sites
