siteunseen Posted March 11, 2022 Author Share #13 Posted March 11, 2022 Hey @Diseazd I want your opinion too! Keep the hubcaps old looking but protect them with some wax for 20 years storage. I like Maguire's #7 on old paint. I'm scared I'll go all "Cliff" and over do it, OCD and all that Bud Light. I've made up my mind just typing to you and Cantech Z. Thanks. CanTechZ Posted March 11, 2022 Share #14 Posted March 11, 2022 Does the old paint still have a matte finish after your cleaning? You might want to check this out... 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/66390-bought-4-hubcaps/?page=2#findComment-637106 Share on other sites
siteunseen Posted March 12, 2022 Author Share #15 Posted March 12, 2022 (edited) To put a period (correct) on this thread I soaked and wiped them with a sponge. Then used Maguire's #7 to revitlize the old paint. The one I did looks good and is still early '70s paint. I didn't want to repaint and have a gold tooth shining when I opened my 52 year old teeth to be seen. I'm happy and the money and time will be put in a box for years but worth it when I sale. Diseazd Posted March 12, 2022 Share #16 Posted March 12, 2022 Good move Site.......they will now match the patina of the car.......besides, masking and painting requires patience and work......eats into beer drinking time. 🍻 1 3 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/66390-bought-4-hubcaps/?page=2#findComment-637136 Share on other sites

emccallum Posted March 28, 2022 Share #18 Posted March 28, 2022 Those are really nice and for a really nice price compared to what I have seen them selling for on Ebay. I have a set that were removed at the dealer and have never used. I have had them for over 30 years. Just made a deal on a 72 that needs restoration. Finally have a car to put my hubcaps on 🙂 2 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/66390-bought-4-hubcaps/?page=2#findComment-638626 Share on other sites
