Gorp Posted November 7, 2022 Share #1 Posted November 7, 2022 I painted my engine bay and when I am currently putting everything back. I’m not sure where this goes. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/67957-unknown-part-help-identify/ Share on other sites

Can’t say that I’ve ever seen something like that on a Z. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/67957-unknown-part-help-identify/#findComment-647037 Share on other sites
zKars Posted November 7, 2022 Share #3 Posted November 7, 2022 Soldering iron tip is my guess. Not Z related. 1 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/67957-unknown-part-help-identify/#findComment-647039 Share on other sites

dutchzcarguy Posted November 9, 2022 Share #5 Posted November 9, 2022 Sometimes there were prankers that put some weard parts in a pile of parts that the new guy took from a car at the painters.. Always fun to see what they do with it! 😁 The part you show here ... i never seen such a thing.. Mark Maras Posted November 9, 2022 Share #6 Posted November 9, 2022 I'd guess it is some sort of alignment tool. Bellhousing to engine block for example. crayZlair Posted November 9, 2022 Share #7 Posted November 9, 2022 Can't tell the exact size from the picture. A scale reference would help. If it is about the size of a quarter, I'd go with the soldering iron tip. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/67957-unknown-part-help-identify/#findComment-647094 Share on other sites
DatsunZGuy Posted November 9, 2022 Share #8 Posted November 9, 2022 Let me know if you find a 10mm socket. 1 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/67957-unknown-part-help-identify/#findComment-647100 Share on other sites
siteunseen Posted November 9, 2022 Share #9 Posted November 9, 2022 Looked like a firing pin until Zkars id as soldering iron tip. Looks to have some shiny tin too. ea6driver Posted November 17, 2022 Share #10 Posted November 17, 2022 I'd have to go out and check this with my car tomorrow...but I'm pretty sure that part seats inside the vacuum controlled solenoid valve attached to the B.C.D.D. (Boost Controlled Deceleration Device)...the solenoid valve I'm referring to screws into the side of the BCDD and has an electrical wire connected to it. I'll check this tomorrow, and if I'm wrong I'll update my post. dutchzcarguy Posted November 17, 2022 Share #11 Posted November 17, 2022 When i take a good look on that tip.. it closes something.. as it has a rounded scoring on it.. i would think it's out of a solonoid.. crayZlair Posted November 17, 2022 Share #12 Posted November 17, 2022 A bottom view and a size reference would be very helpful in identification. 1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/67957-unknown-part-help-identify/#findComment-647278 Share on other sites
