projecteye Posted July 17, 2003 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2003 '71 240Z- HELP!!!I disconnected the relay box (right next to you left knee) that has three green wires going into it and now I cannot remember what order they land on the terminals.there are three total: (1) green/black stripe;(1)green/red stripe and (1) green only.Anyone know the proper order? what the heck does this box do anyway?Possibly related: my stop lights do not light up nor do the rear hazard flashers work. Is this related? AHHHHHHHH !@!@ can't pass inspection Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/7064-61971-240z-helpelectrical-question/ Share on other sites
2ManyZs Posted July 18, 2003 Share #2 Posted July 18, 2003 The only thing I see in the electrical diagram with that color combo is the horn relay. Not sure which way it is mounted so that I would know which way the wires are connected but the G/R shows in the center with the G on the right and G/B on the left. Guess you could hook up the G/R in the center position and try the others one way then the other till the horn works. Doubt it is related to your taillight problem, but it sounds like that might possibly be a ground problem at the rear if the front signals work when you use the flashers. DatsunZGuy Posted July 18, 2003 Share #3 Posted July 18, 2003 My Z was produced on 12/71, and the single relay just above the hood latch is identified with the letters H, B, and S at the plug-in points. H = solid green wire B = green wire with a red stripe S = green wire with a black stripe Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/7064-61971-240z-helpelectrical-question/#findComment-44384 Share on other sites
2ManyZs Posted July 18, 2003 Share #4 Posted July 18, 2003 Well, that settles that.... was going to go out and look under the dash of mine but hated to pull all the parts out of the way to get under there.... Hmm, looks like I had the order right too.... what a guess huh? EScanlon Posted July 18, 2003 Share #5 Posted July 18, 2003 You don't mention if you are having trouble with the turn signals at the rear also. The turn signals, the stop lights and the hazard lights all use the same element in the rear bulbs. Depending on what circuit is live is what you will get at the back.Is your Hazard Flasher in place and working? If it isn't, you have an open circuit there that may be the problem.2¢Enrique Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/7064-61971-240z-helpelectrical-question/#findComment-44449 Share on other sites
